Therapy & Counseling for Individuals, Couples, Teens, in Mansfield, TX
Life can become complicated in ways that are difficult to sort through on your own.
You may be dealing with anxiety that never seems to quiet down, depression that has left you feeling disconnected, conflict in an important relationship, or a major life transition that has changed how you see yourself and your future. Sometimes there is not one clear problem—you simply know that something is no longer working the way you want it to.
At Moore Counseling and Wellness, I provide counseling in Mansfield, Texas for adults, teens, couples, and families who want to better understand what is happening in their lives and relationships and begin creating meaningful change.
With more than 20 years of clinical experience, I approach therapy from a systemic perspective. Rather than viewing problems only as symptoms that need to be eliminated, we look at the larger picture: your relationships, family patterns, experiences, beliefs, strengths, and the stories that have shaped how you understand yourself.
My work integrates Family Systems Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and relationship-focused approaches including Gottman Method principles.
The goal is not simply to help you feel better in the moment. It is to help you understand patterns, develop new ways of responding, strengthen important relationships, and move toward a life that better reflects what matters to you.
Areas of Clinical Focus and Specialties
Individual Therapy
Sometimes the patterns that helped you manage life in the past no longer work as well as they once did.
Individual counseling provides a place to slow things down, understand what may be contributing to the problem, and consider different ways of responding.
We may explore relationships, family-of-origin patterns, difficult experiences, emotional reactions, expectations you carry for yourself, and the ways you have learned to cope with stress.
At the same time, therapy does not have to focus exclusively on what is wrong. We will also identify your strengths, exceptions to the problem, and the parts of your life that are already working.
Individual therapy may be helpful for concerns including:
Anxiety and chronic worry
Depression and loss of motivation
Stress and burnout
Relationship difficulties
Grief and loss
Trauma and difficult past experiences
Anger and emotional reactivity
Self-esteem and self-acceptance
Divorce and separation
Major life transitions
Family conflict
Men's issues

Couples & Relationship Counseling
Relationships often become stuck in patterns.
One partner pursues while the other withdraws. Conversations turn into arguments. Old injuries are brought into new disagreements. Couples may love one another and still feel increasingly distant.
Couples counseling can help you understand the interactional patterns affecting your relationship rather than simply deciding who is right and who is wrong.
My approach integrates Family Systems Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, and Gottman Method principles to help couples better understand their relationship dynamics and develop more productive ways of communicating and responding to one another.
Couples therapy may address concerns such as:
Communication problems
Recurring conflict
Emotional distance
Trust issues
Infidelity
Parenting disagreements
Intimacy concerns
Major life transitions
Separation or divorce decisions
Rebuilding connection

Anxiety Counseling
Anxiety can show up as constant worry, overthinking, irritability, physical tension, difficulty sleeping, perfectionism, or the feeling that you are always preparing for something to go wrong.
Sometimes anxiety seems to come from nowhere. Other times it develops within relationships, family expectations, work pressures, past experiences, or patterns that have existed for years.
Anxiety counseling can help you understand both the immediate symptoms of anxiety and the broader patterns that may be keeping them in place.
Together, we can work on ways to calm anxious thinking, respond differently to stress, challenge unhelpful beliefs, establish healthier boundaries, and develop a greater sense of confidence in your ability to handle difficult situations.

Depression Counseling
Depression does not always look like overwhelming sadness.
It can feel like exhaustion, irritability, numbness, withdrawal, loss of motivation, difficulty concentrating, or simply not feeling like yourself anymore.
Therapy for depression involves more than trying to “think positively.” We can explore the experiences, relationships, expectations, losses, and patterns that may have contributed to where you are today while also identifying practical ways to begin moving forward.
Using approaches drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, we can work toward helping you reconnect with meaning, relationships, strengths, and parts of yourself that depression may have pushed into the background.

Men's Issues Counseling
Many men become accustomed to carrying responsibility without having many places where they can talk openly about what that responsibility costs them.
Work pressure, marriage difficulties, divorce, fatherhood, anger, loneliness, depression, anxiety, aging, identity changes, and questions about purpose can accumulate over time.
You may continue functioning well on the outside while knowing privately that something feels off.
Therapy provides a confidential place to examine those concerns without reducing you to a diagnosis or assuming there is something fundamentally wrong with you.
My work with men focuses on understanding patterns, improving relationships, handling emotions more effectively, navigating transitions, and becoming more intentional about the kind of man, partner, father, or person you want to be.

Teen Counseling
Adolescence can be difficult for both teenagers and the people who love them.
Teens are navigating increasing independence while still developing the emotional and relational skills they need to handle stress, relationships, school expectations, identity, and decisions about their future.
Teen counseling may help with anxiety, depression, anger, family conflict, school stress, self-esteem, peer relationships, motivation, and major changes within the family.
When appropriate, I also work with parents to better understand the larger family system and help create healthier communication and boundaries at home.
The goal is not to simply “fix” the teenager. It is to understand what is happening within the teen's life and relationships and help the family develop more effective ways of moving forward.

Family Therapy
When one member of a family is struggling, the effects rarely remain isolated to that one person.
Families develop patterns of communication, roles, expectations, alliances, and ways of managing stress. Some of those patterns help the family remain connected. Others can unintentionally contribute to conflict or distance.
Family therapy looks at those patterns and helps family members develop different ways of relating to one another.
Counseling may be helpful for families dealing with conflict, communication difficulties, parenting concerns, divorce, blended-family issues, young adults transitioning toward independence, or other changes affecting the family system.

A Different Way of Looking at Change
Therapy is sometimes described as identifying a problem and finding a technique to eliminate it.
My approach is broader.
Family Systems Therapy
Family Systems Theory helps us examine how relationships and family patterns influence the way you respond to stress, conflict, closeness, and emotional pressure.
Understanding those patterns can create opportunities to respond more thoughtfully rather than automatically repeating what has happened before.
Narrative Therapy
Problems have a way of becoming stories about who we are:
I'm a failure.
I'm broken.
Our marriage has always been bad.
I'm just an anxious person.
Narrative Therapy helps separate you from the problem and examine whether those conclusions tell the whole story.
Often, they do not.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Therapy does not have to spend every session analyzing what went wrong.
Solution-Focused Therapy also asks what is already working, when the problem is less powerful, what strengths you are already using, and what small changes could begin moving life in a better direction.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT can help identify connections among your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and provide practical strategies for changing patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship difficulties.
Rather than relying rigidly on a single model, I integrate these approaches based on your goals and what is happening in your life.
Counseling That Looks at the Whole Person
You are more than a collection of symptoms.
Your relationships matter.
Your history matters.
Your strengths matter.
The way you have learned to survive difficult experiences matters.
And the direction you want your life to move matters.
Therapy gives us the opportunity to understand how those pieces fit together and determine what you would like to do differently.
You do not need to have everything figured out before scheduling a counseling appointment. Sometimes knowing that something needs to change is enough of a place to begin.
